Don't you just love freebies? I know I do.
I've been in two occasions recently as a customer, when I got an unexpected freebie. Immediately after ordering my bagel and coffee at the Bagel Bar, the girl behind the cashier offered me a free bottle of mineral water. I was about to order a glass of water anyway, so it came as a welcome surprise.
Some days later, I went buying a steak at the meat counter in my nearby supermarket. I was chatting with the guy behind the counter about the fact that there didn't seem to be a lot of meat for that much money.
He obviously took pity on my miserable face when he said - "Tell you what sir, why don't you have this other steak for the same price" and he put an extra steak on top!
So what do we learn here? The lesson is that most customers love a freebie and if they get one from a supplier it develops a positive relationship. When people order stuff at your online business, on the delivery section, give them unadvertised bonuses and they will love you for that.
As customers, we're more likely to come back and do business with those who give us freebies and we're more likely to tell other people about our positive experience. It's good strategy to give your customers freebies at times but don't over do it. If you blast your email database with daily gifts you will eventually miss the target and your internet marketing business is going to suffer for it..
I once read a story article about a restaurant owner who would sometimes give people a free meal. At the time when a group of diners or a family called for the bill he would spontaneously announce that for this meal, they were his guests and they didn't need to pay for their meal.
Can you imagine how these people felt - what they said to friends and work associates the next day? The free meal probably cost the restaurant owner a lot less than advertising in the city daily paper and it also brought in a lot more new customers.
