Information about Common Prostate Cancer Symptoms

Prostate cancer is a very common form of cancer affecting millions of men each year. Hence, it is important to know about the common prostate cancer symptoms. It should be noted that in the early stages of prostate cancer, there might not be any symptoms. At a certain stage, the common symptoms are

a. Difficulty or inability in urination b. Need for frequent urination, especially at night c. Unable to urine regularly d. Pain or burning sensation during urination e. Weak or intermittent flow of urine f. Unable to complete urination g. Painful ejaculation h. Blood or pus in the urine or semen i. Pain in the back, hips, or upper thigh area

These prostate cancer symptoms can range from mild to severe, depending on the condition of the patient. Recognizing the possible prostate cancer symptoms is very important, as early detection of the disease is crucial for effective treatment. It is easier to treat the cancer before it spread to the surrounding tissues. Unfortunately, it is difficult to detect prostate cancer symptoms at that early stage. That is why regular screening is recommended for men over the age of forty. It should be noted that an enlarged prostate, a condition known as Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH), could also cause these prostate cancer symptoms. This is very common in older men and is not life threatening although it is obviously very uncomfortable for the patient.

Other Symptoms of Prostate Cancer

The common prostate cancer symptoms when the cancer has spread to other part of the body are

a. Weight loss. b. Pain in the bone pain, especially in the lower abdomen, hip, pelvis, or lower back area. c. Swelling in the legs and feet.

If you have any doubt about whether you have prostate cancer symptoms, it is best to consult your doctor for a check up especially if you have blood or pus in your urine or you have high risk factors.
